Back to GlossaryRustic Grade / CD Grade – Glossary
This is the grade displaying the highest incidence of major natural characteristics of the tree such as frequent knots of all sizes, some sapwood (or heartwood in the case of sap species) reasonable size splits (where they are not detrimental structurally to the floor board) heart-shake and ingrown bark.
It often graces barn conversions and country properties where traditional Oak, Elm and Chestnut beams, lintels and roof members are being complemented.
