Patina – Glossary

This is usually a hand applied stain that is applied after lacquering and then wiped off – it leaves brown or black staining in the grain of the wood, thus offering an aged / antique effect, particularly to Oak hardwood flooring but also to other species such as Cherry, Chestnut and Elm.
